01Katana Onboard BOOSTER (TS-style setting via Tone Studio)
Use BOOSTER button engaged — set to TS/Screamer type in BOSS Tone Studio for tighter low-end and mid push into the BROWN channel. This mimics the Fortin gate/boost front-end.
The original uses Fortin-style profiles which are extremely tight and modern with a scooped mid character. The Katana's BROWN channel with Variation engaged gets closest to this high-gain modern voicing. I dropped mids to 4 (vs a typical metal 5-6) to replicate the Fortin scoop, and engaged the onboard BOOSTER set to a Tube Screamer type to tighten the low-end—this is critical for the chunky palm-muted riffs. Your Fusion-III's humbuckers match the original's output well, so no gain compensation needed.
