Wild Side amp settings — Rogue 1
The Mötley Crüe guitar tone for “Wild Side”, dialed in for a Rogue 1 with a Rogue 1. Studio version, Girls, Girls, Girls album (1987)
Modified Marshall JCM800 (modded for extra gain/scoop), Gibson Les Paul Custom with PAF-style humbuckers, tuned to Eb standard
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 7 |
| Bass | 6 |
| Mid | 4 |
| Treble | 6 |
| Presence | 5 |
| Reverb | 0 |
| Master | 6 |
The Rogue 1 is a budget solid-state amp with limited gain and EQ range compared to a modded JCM800. I've set gain near max to approach Mars' saturated tone, kept mids scooped at 4 for that classic 80s scoop, and rolled tone knob to 8 to tame any harsh fizz from the solid-state clipping. The original recording is bone dry, so reverb stays at 0.
