Why these settings

The Flextone 2's JCM800 model is the correct starting point — it matches the original amp type directly. Your Epiphone Les Paul has hotter, warmer humbuckers than Hetfield's Flying V, so I dropped treble from the original's 8-9 down to 7 to avoid icepick highs, and pulled bass back slightly from 8-9 to 7 to prevent mud. Mids stay scooped at 3 for that classic thrash scoop.

PRO TIPPalm mute with your hand positioned closer to the bridge saddles than you think — Hetfield's tight chug comes from extremely precise muting right at the bridge, not loose muting near the neck pickup.
