Why these settings

The K&K GA-20 is a budget solid-state amp with less natural saturation and compression than a cranked Marshall tube head. Push gain to 8 to compensate for the lack of tube breakup. Mid is dropped to 3 (original was around 2.5) because budget solid-state amps often have weaker mid-scoop circuits than Marshalls—this achieves the thrash scoop without sounding thin. Treble pulled back one notch from the original 8 to 7 because solid-state treble tends toward harsh fizz at high gain.
