Why these settings

The Philipson XL10 is a small solid-state practice amp with limited gain and no channel switching — it cannot produce Mesa-style high-gain saturation on its own. The Zoom 505 must be your gain source; amp gain stays at 3 to keep the power section clean and let the Zoom's distortion remain defined. Your Strat's single-coil bridge pickup is brighter and lower output than Hetfield's EMG 81 humbucker, so bass is pushed to 7 and treble pulled back to 6 to compensate for the thinner low end and harsher highs. Mids scooped to 2 to approximate the iconic V-curve.
