The vintage-voiced Fender Princeton Reverb physically cannot produce modern 1980s high-gain thrash saturation on its own, so Volume/Gain is pushed to 8 to squeeze out maximum tube breakup today. The Princeton faceplate lacks a dedicated Mid control and Presence knob, so Treble is dialed back to 5 and the Strat's tone knob rolled to 8 to tame single-coil sharpness while Bass stays at 6 to prevent 10-inch speaker flub. Adding a dedicated high-gain distortion pedal into the clean amp (Volume at 3) is required to achieve the true scooped Mesa Mark IIC+ chug.
