Why these settings

The Orange Crush 20 is warm with thick low-mids, opposite to the original's tight, scooped Marshall. Bass dropped from the original's 8-9 to 6 to prevent mud on the Crush's voiced low-end. Mids raised slightly to 3 (original was 1.5-2.5) because the Crush is already mid-forward and further scooping loses definition. Your Strat's single-coils output significantly less than Hetfield's humbuckers — gain maxed at 10, and a Tube Screamer is strongly recommended to compensate for the output gap and tighten the response.

PRO TIPPalm mute directly over the bridge saddles, not toward the neck — Hetfield's percussive chunk comes from extremely tight muting. Angle your pick slightly and attack hard; the tone lives in the right hand aggression as much as the gear.
