01Lekato Cube Baby — Distortion/Overdrive Section

Use the high-gain or 'metal' voicing if available. This is your PRIMARY gain source — the Behringer's distortion is weak, so the Lekato must do the heavy lifting. Set amp to clean and push this pedal hard.

Why these settings

The Behringer HA-10G is a 10-watt practice amp with limited headroom and a thin, fizzy distortion circuit — it cannot replicate JCM800 saturation on its own. Maxing amp gain here is necessary but still insufficient; the Lekato multi-FX must provide the core distortion character. Your Epiphone Les Paul's humbuckers are hotter than Friedman's Duncans, so I pulled the Lekato's tone knob back slightly to avoid harshness. Bass is cut to 4 to prevent mud on the small speaker.

PRO TIPFriedman's solo tone relies heavily on controlled pick attack and legato phrasing — he doesn't dig in hard on fast runs. Use a lighter touch and let the gain do the work; your Les Paul's neck-through sustain equivalent comes from rolling your picking hand closer to the neck during melodic passages to warm up the attack.
