01Horizon Gate (Helix Onboard)
Input gate to keep high-gain palm mutes razor sharp
02Scream 808 / Stomp Drive (Helix Onboard)
Used as clean boost/tightener in front of the PV Panama block
The PV Panama amp model replicates the core Peavey 5150 tone Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel used in the studio. A Scream 808 block is set with Drive at zero and Level high in front of the amp to tighten the extended low end for Drop B tuning. Active-style humbuckers on the Spira push the preamp easily, so amp gain is kept at 6 to prevent muddy low-mid flub. Clean intro/interlude: bypass the Scream 808 and switch amp model to Archetype Clean or US Double Nrm with a subtle stereo chorus.
