01Analog Chorus (Boss CE-2 or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for Mac's signature warble. A Behringer UC200 ($25) or TC Electronic 3rd Dimension ($50) gets you there on a budget. Mac ran his chorus 100% wet with no clean blend.
The GA-15 is a small practice amp similar in spirit to Mac's Vibro-Champ — both are low-wattage, simple circuits. Keep gain extremely low (2) for zero breakup; Mac's tone is pristine clean. Treble rolled back to 4 because the Stratocaster neck pickup plus the GA-15's solid-state voicing can get ice-picky. Without a chorus pedal, you cannot replicate this tone — the modulation is 50% of the sound.
