The Fender TG-10 is an ultra-compact practice unit with a fixed EQ layout (no dedicated mid control or presence), so bass is kept full at 6 and treble at 5 to avoid piercing high-end buzz on the slide. Gary used hot PAFs on his SG into a loud, clean tube/solid-state hybrid Peavey Mace, so keeping the amp gain low at 3 preserves articulation without harsh solid-state clipping. Rolling the guitar tone down to 7 warms up the slide's attack to simulate a heavy mahogany body. Solo/outro fast section: engage the amp's overdrive/gain up to 7 and switch to the bridge pickup wide open.
