Original rig

Likely Marshall or Mesa-style high-gain amp with humbucker-equipped guitars (genre-standard for 2000s pop-punk; no verified rig documentation exists for Lustra)

01Distortion Pedal (Boss DS-1 or ProCo RAT)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The Frontman 15's built-in overdrive cannot achieve the saturated high-gain needed for this tone. A DS-1 ($50 new) or used RAT gets you there. Run amp gain at 3-4 when using this pedal.

Why these settings

The Frontman 15 is a practice-level solid-state amp that cannot produce authentic high-gain pop-punk saturation on its own—its overdrive is thin and fizzy at high settings. Without a distortion pedal, push the amp gain to 7 and compensate with boosted mids (+6) to add body the Fender naturally lacks. The Telecaster's single-coil bridge will be brighter and thinner than the original's likely humbuckers, so I've rolled tone to 7 and cut treble slightly to reduce ice-pick highs.

PRO TIPPop-punk palm-muting tightness comes from picking hand position—anchor your palm closer to the bridge saddles for maximum note definition on those G and D power chords. If the tone feels too thin, try angling your pick slightly so you're hitting strings with the edge rather than flat.
