01Distortion Pedal (RECOMMENDED — Boss DS-1 or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone. The Frontman 20G cannot produce high-gain saturation on its own. Run the amp near-clean and let the pedal be your gain source.
The original uses a Mesa Rectifier's scooped high-gain voicing. Your Frontman 20G is a clean solid-state practice amp with no mid control and cannot reach that saturation — gain maxed still stays crunchy at best. A DS-1 or similar distortion pedal in front is mandatory; keep the amp clean (gain 7 adds slight grit without mud). Bass dropped to 4 because the 8-inch speaker cannot handle the Rectifier's low-end thump without flubbing. Treble at 6 preserves the pick attack. Your Strat's single-coil bridge is brighter and lower-output than the original's PRS humbucker, so the pedal's Tone at 6 warms the attack slightly.
