Deceptacon amp settings — GA-15 15W Black 15W
The Le tigre guitar tone for “Deceptacon”, dialed in for a GA-15 15W Black 15W with a Fender American Professional II Stratocaster. Studio version, Le Tigre self-titled album (1999)
Guitar recorded direct into Ensoniq Mirage sampler, then pitch-shifted and triggered via keyboard. No traditional amp - the raw guitar signal was sampled at 8-bit resolution, giving it a lo-fi, crunchy, almost synth-like quality. Recorded on 8-track Tascam reel-to-reel with quarter-inch tape.
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 3 |
| Bass | 4 |
| Mid | 7 |
| Treble | 6 |
| Reverb | 0 |
| Master | 5 |
The original was not played through an amp - the guitar was sampled into an Ensoniq Mirage at 8-bit, creating its distinctive lo-fi texture. Your GA-15 cannot replicate 8-bit sample degradation. Keep gain low for a clean-ish tone with slight edge, push mids to mimic the nasal/honky quality of low-sample-rate audio, and roll tone knob to 4 to tame high-frequency content that would sound too hi-fi.
