Why these settings

Your Squier Esquire has a single coil bridge pickup — naturally brighter and lower output than the likely humbucker on the original. Compensate by rolling tone knob to 7 (cuts ice-pick highs), pushing mids to 7 on the Tank G (single coils lack the mid-punch of humbuckers), and using the onboard boost to add sustain and compression the Esquire doesn't naturally have. Bass at 4 prevents mud since single coils are already tight.

PRO TIPFor the melodic lead sections, pick closer to the neck pickup area (even though you're on bridge) — this softens the attack and mimics the rounder note bloom of a humbucker lead tone. Dig in with your pick on sustained notes for natural compression.
