Why these settings

The Fender Twin Reverb has massive clean headroom and a naturally scooped-mid, bright voicing, so mids are pushed to 8 and treble is cut to 4 with the bright switch off to simulate Marshall midrange warmth. Because the Twin will not saturate on its own at reasonable volumes, a Marshall-in-a-box distortion pedal is strongly recommended to achieve the singing Caswell/Levi modded Plexi crunch. Rolling your Strat's neck pickup tone control down to 4 compensates for single-coil bite and mimics Slash's iconic hollow woman tone.

PRO TIPSwitch to the neck pickup and roll the Strat's tone knob down to 4 to round off the single-coil glass, and pick with the fleshy edge of a heavy pick right over the 15th-17th fret area for Slash's distinctive rounded, flute-like attack.
