Why these settings

Slash used thick Alnico II neck humbuckers into a cranked Marshall Silver Jubilee, while a Squier Stratocaster has brighter, lower-output single coils. To compensate, the amp's treble is rolled back to 4, mids pushed to 8, and the guitar's tone knob rolled down to 5 to tame glassiness and recreate the dark, vocal 'woman tone'. The Katana's onboard Booster adds the necessary saturation and compression that single coils lack compared to hot humbuckers. Switch to the bridge pickup with tone wide open for the aggressive rhythm parts.
