Why these settings

The Fender 15B is a 15-watt solid-state bass amp—it has no natural overdrive capability and a darker voicing than a guitar amp. The Peavey Milestone is a bass guitar with passive pickups, which will produce a fundamentally different frequency profile than Armstrong's hot humbucker guitar. Mids pushed to 7 to compensate for the bass amp's scooped voicing; bass cut to 4 to reduce low-end mud. Without a distortion pedal, this tone is unobtainable—the amp simply cannot produce the required gain structure.

PRO TIPIf you cannot get a distortion pedal, try playing with a pick as close to the bridge as possible with aggressive downstrokes to maximize attack and brightness from your bass—this won't replicate the guitar tone but will give you the rhythmic aggression of the track.
