Why these settings

The MG15R's solid-state OD channel is brighter and less compressed than the Dual Rectifier's thick tube saturation. Push mids to 8 (vs original's 7) to compensate for the MG's inherent mid-scoop. Cut bass to 4 (vs original's 6) because the MG gets flubby in low frequencies at high gain. Zero the contour/presence — this amp gets fizzy fast and the Rectifier tone is dark and chunky, not sizzling.

PRO TIPGojira's attack comes from the pick hand — use the thick part of the pick, strike hard and close to the bridge, and keep your palm muting extremely tight against the strings. The tone is 50% technique; without aggressive, controlled picking, the settings alone won't deliver that percussive 'elephants marching' thump.
