Why these settings

The VX15 is Vox-voiced with Class A chime and less low-end thump than a Mesa Rectifier. Pushed mid to 8 (vs original's 6-7) to compensate for the Vox's natural mid-scoop and the Strat single-coil's thinner output. Dropped bass to 4 and treble to 5 because single coils are already bright and the Vox accentuates highs. Gain at 8 to get the OD channel working hard since you have no drive pedal.

PRO TIPRoll your tone knob to 8 to tame the Strat's ice-pick highs on the bridge pickup—this fattens the attack and gets closer to the humbucker warmth of Grohl's ES-335. Palm-mute the verse riff aggressively to replicate the tight, percussive chug.
