01Onboard Overdrive / Preamp Block (Rumble Studio)
Set as a light grit/warm drive block before the amp model to emulate the SansAmp DI breakup
Nate Mendel tracked Everlong using a 1971 P-bass with a pick directly into an aggressive tube bass rig blended with a gritty SansAmp DI. On the Rumble Studio 40, select the '70s Rock (SVT) model with a slight onboard drive block; bump the midrange to 7 to give your Performer Precision the cutting, percussive attack of the record without washing out in the low end. Note that the physical Rumble panel has no presence control, so top-end definition is set purely via Treble. For the subdued verse dynamic, lighten pick attack rather than tweaking controls.
