Why these settings

The Driver CD200 is a budget solid-state amp without the sag and compression of a Dual Rectifier's tube power section. Compensate by pushing gain higher (+1 over original) and leaning on the Dst 101 to add harmonic saturation the amp lacks. Mid boosted to 7 because solid-state amps tend toward a scooped, sterile voicing compared to Mesa's naturally thick midrange. Presence dropped to 5 to avoid fizz.

PRO TIPThe Cort X300's humbuckers are hotter than Grohl's PAF-style pickups—if the tone gets muddy, roll your guitar's tone knob to 7 to tighten the low-mids. Tune to Drop D and use aggressive downstrokes on the main riff; the percussive attack is half the tone.
