Why these settings

The KGA10FX solid-state preamp needs to stay strictly on the Clean channel at low gain to avoid clipping and mirror the clean 1961 Bell Sound studio cut. Because the Les Paul humbuckers have a thicker low-end than 1950s/60s P-90 archtops, using the middle pickup position with treble boosted gives you the bright, rhythmic snap of the original track without harshness. Keep the onboard analog delay/reverb effect dialed low to add subtle vintage room depth.

PRO TIPUse tight, palm-muted stabs and pick directly near the bridge saddle to get that distinct percussive doo-wop rhythm chop.
