The Peavey Rage 258 is a small solid-state practice amp with limited headroom and a boxy voicing. I dropped bass from the original's 6.5-7 to 5 because the Rage's small speaker will get muddy fast with detuned riffs. Mids pulled to 3 to approximate the scoop. Treble pushed to 7 to compensate for the Gretsch's Filter'Tron pickups, which are darker and lower-output than the JB humbucker Carpenter used. Your amp lacks the tight low-end authority of a Mesa power section—this is the closest honest approximation.

PRO TIPPalm mute hard and close to the bridge to keep the detuned notes articulate. The Rage will get flubby if you let low strings ring open—tight, percussive picking technique is how Carpenter keeps Drop C# riffs defined on the record.
