Why these settings

The Friedman Small Box is inherently more mid-forward and tighter than the scooped Rectifier/JMP-1 combo, so mids are set at 5 rather than the original's 3.5 to avoid over-scooping on an already punchy amp. Bass is pulled to 4 because single coils lack the low-end thump of a 7-string humbucker—pushing bass higher would create flub without the source material. Treble raised to 6 compensates for the Strat's brighter, thinner voicing versus the JB humbucker's thick output.

PRO TIPRoll your tone knob to 7 and pick closer to the bridge with a firm attack to approximate the compressed, chunky response of a high-output humbucker—the Strat's natural spank will fight you if you pick over the neck.
