01Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz (or any modern fuzz/distortion)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The FZ-2 is discontinued; a Boss HM-2 clone, EHX Big Muff Op-Amp, or Pro Co Rat would approximate the gritty, scooped aggression. Without a fuzz/distortion pedal, you will not achieve this tone — the Frontman's overdrive alone lacks the saturation and harmonic grind Carpenter's rig delivers.
The Fender Frontman 10G is a small solid-state practice amp with a single overdrive channel, bass, treble (no mid knob), and no presence control. Carpenter's ADA/Marshall rig is mid-scooped and high-gain with power amp saturation — the Frontman cannot replicate this without an external distortion pedal. I maxed the amp's gain and boosted bass to compensate for your guitar's single-coil-style pickups (lower output than Carpenter's JB humbuckers), and rolled treble back to avoid the Frontman's tendency toward fizz at high gain. The tone knob at 6 tames the First Act's brightness.
