Why these settings

The Katana's Brown channel approximates the Marshall-voiced saturation of Carpenter's rig. Mids stay scooped at 4 to match the nu-metal thump. Your RG421's Quantum humbuckers are hotter than Carpenter's JBs, so gain stays at 8 rather than pushing higher. The FZ-2 is critical to this tone — without it, use the Katana's Boss Tone Studio to load an octave fuzz or Metal Zone block.

PRO TIPTune to Drop C# (C#-G#-C#-F#-A#-D#) and use .011-.052 or heavier strings to keep the low C# from flubbing. Palm mute with your hand positioned closer to the bridge than usual — Carpenter's attack is tight and percussive, not loose and sludgy.
