01Noise Gate (e.g., Boss NS-2 or Donner Noise Killer)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for tight palm mutes and eliminating hum at high gain. Budget option: TC Electronic Sentry or Donner Noise Killer (~$30-40)
The Ibanez GA-10 is a small practice amp with limited gain headroom compared to the Marshall JMP-1 rack preamp. I maxed gain to get as much saturation as possible. Bass is pulled back to 4 (original was around 5-6) because small speakers get muddy fast with excessive low-end. Treble pushed to 7 to compensate for the GRG170DX's Infinity humbuckers being darker than active EMGs. The tone will be thinner and less crushing than the original—this amp cannot truly replicate high-gain metal tones.
