Why these settings

The Orange Crush 20 is naturally warm and mid-present, which suits this tone well. Your Strat's single coils are brighter and lower output than Carpenter's JB humbuckers, so I cut treble by 1 from typical settings and pushed mids to 7 to compensate for the scooped Strat character. Gain at 6 gets the crunch without mud. Rolling your tone knob to 7 warms the bridge pickup closer to humbucker territory.

PRO TIPThe verse tone's magic is the chorus effect — without it, you're missing 60% of the sound. If you can't get a chorus pedal, use your Strat's positions 2 or 4 (in-between) for a pseudo-chorused phase cancellation effect, but know it's a compromise.
