Somebody save me amp settings — Washburn BD25R

The Cinderella guitar tone for “Somebody save me”, dialed in for a Washburn BD25R with a Donner Strattacaster. Studio version, Night Songs (1986)

Original rig

1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom → Marshall Super Lead with 4x12 Basketweave cab (20W Greenbacks). Studio reportedly also used Fender Bassman for layering.

Thick, sustaining 80s hard rock crunch with prominent mids, warm low-end, and smooth top-end — not fizzy, not scooped

Why these settings

Your Donner Strat's single coils are brighter and lower output than Keifer's Les Paul humbuckers. I've dropped treble from what a Marshall would need (5 vs 7) and pushed mids +1 to compensate for the Strat's natural scoop. Gain at 7 because single coils won't saturate the preamp as hard. Rolling tone knob to 7 tames the Strat's ice-pick highs and moves closer to the warm Les Paul voicing.

PRO TIPDig in with your pick near the neck pickup for rhythm parts — this fattens single-coil tone and mimics the compressed attack of a humbucker hitting a cranked Marshall.
