01Guitar Preamp / Booster (Onboard Spark Drive block - Clone Drive)
Used strictly as a clean boost/tightener to emulate Alexi Laiho's active MM-04 preamp boost
02Noise Gate (Onboard Spark Gate block)
Essential to keep fast 16th-note staccato riffs quiet between palm-mutes
The Spark 40 does not have a Lee Jackson GP-1000 model, so the Treadplate (Mesa Dual Rectifier) block delivers the necessary high-gain bite and low-end saturation. Alexi dialed heavy midrange on his preamp and hit the front with an active EQ boost; compensating on the Spark requires running mids at 6 and pushing the Spark's virtual OD block as a level-boosting treble/mid tightener. The Spark 40 physical faceplate lacks a presence knob, so upper-harmonic attack is pushed through the treble control.
