Why these settings

The original Dual Rectifier is scooped and tight with massive low-end control. The Spider's Insane model runs hotter than a real Recto, so gain 6 avoids mud. Mid at 4 keeps the chunk without disappearing — the Spider's mid control is more aggressive than Mesa's passive mid cut. Bass 5 prevents flub through smaller speakers. No presence knob on most Spider models.

PRO TIPPalm-mute directly over the bridge pickup for that percussive chunk Pete Loeffler gets — let the pick attack do the work rather than pushing gain higher.
