Magbalik amp settings — Boss Katana 50 MkII
The Callalily guitar tone for “Magbalik”, dialed in for a Boss Katana 50 MkII with a Squier Bullet Stratocaster. Studio version, Destination XYZ (2006)
Fender Stratocaster / Ibanez RG with humbucker into Marshall JCM900 / DSL tube half-stack with Boss DS-1 / TS-style boost, Boss DD delay and subtle plate reverb
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 7 |
| Bass | 5 |
| Mid | 7 |
| Treble | 5 |
| Reverb | 4 |
| Master | 5 |
01Onboard Booster (Warm OD / Blues Driver type)
Engage Katana onboard Booster in yellow or green mode to tighten the bottom end and push sustain
02Onboard Digital Delay
Set to roughly 380ms quarter-note repeats to replicate the soaring studio lead space
The Katana 50 MkII uses the Lead amp voice with the onboard booster active to mimic a cranked British tube stack being pushed by an overdrive pedal. Because the Squier Bullet Stratocaster uses bright ceramic single coils, treble is pulled back to 5 and the guitar's tone knob is rolled down to 8 to avoid ice-pick harshness and round out the mids. Note that the Katana 50 MkII does not have a physical presence knob on its top panel, so presence is nulled. Clean verse: switch amp type to Clean with Booster bypassed and delay level rolled back.
