01Treble Booster / Clean Boost (e.g., TC Electronic Spark, EHX LPB-1, or Rangemaster clone)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. This is essential to Iommi's tone; he used a modified Rangemaster into the amp's normal input to push the preamp into saturation. Without it, increase amp gain to 8 and push treble to 9.

Why these settings

The Lirevo Token 15 is a small practice amp with limited gain compared to a cranked Laney stack. Iommi ran bass at 0 and treble/mid/presence maxed, but your amp will get harsh and thin at those extremes—I've pulled treble back to 8 and added bass at 2 to compensate for the smaller speaker and voicing. Without a treble booster pedal, you'll lack the cutting attack that defined this tone; a basic boost pedal is the single best upgrade for this sound.

PRO TIPIommi's attack comes from picking hard directly over the bridge pickup pole pieces with the edge of the pick angled slightly—this adds the percussive treble bite that the Rangemaster then amplified. Dig in aggressively; this tone does not respond to light picking.
