01NUX MG-300 Overdrive Block (TS9 / Tube Screamer model)
In front of amp model to cut flubby low end and tighten attack
02NUX MG-300 Noise Gate Block
Essential to clamp high-gain string noise between technical staccato bursts
The Fireman HBE model on the NUX MG-300 provides the necessary modern cascaded saturation; running the internal Tube Screamer block with zero drive and high level tightens the sub-bass for fast tracking. Because the Gibson SG Modern's Burstbucker Pro humbuckers have a slightly warmer low-mid profile than extended-range pickups, keep amp bass clamped at 4 and push midrange to 7 to maintain note articulation across complex chord extensions. For the acoustic/clean interlude, switch to a Jazz Clean block with bridge+neck pickups selected.
