RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone — the GA-10 cannot produce metalcore saturation on its own. A Boss DS-1 or MT-2 Metal Zone gets you closest to the tight, aggressive character.

Why these settings

The GA-10 is a small practice amp with minimal gain staging and no mid control — it cannot reach Rectifier-level saturation alone. Amp gain at 7 provides edge, but the heavy lifting MUST come from an external distortion pedal. Bass kept at 4 to prevent the small speaker from flubbing on palm mutes; treble at 7 compensates for the Strat's single-coil brightness being thinner than the original's Les Paul humbuckers. Rolling tone knob to 8 fattens the bridge pickup slightly.

PRO TIPPalm-mute directly over the bridge saddles with the meat of your palm — too far forward kills the gallop articulation. Pick hard and consistent; the riff's aggression comes from attack dynamics, not gain.
