Why these settings

The DG Electronics GF-30 is a budget solid-state amp without the Uberschall's tight low-end response or EL34 power section compression. I've scooped the mids harder (3 vs the original's ~4.5) to compensate for solid-state amps often sounding mid-heavy in the upper frequencies. The Harley Benton HWY-25BKS has humbuckers, which matches the original Les Paul output well — no gain compensation needed. Without a boost pedal, you'll lose some of the percussive tightness; the amp alone will sound slightly looser on palm mutes.

PRO TIPTune to Drop D and use the fleshy part of your palm right at the bridge saddles — not too far forward. The gallop riff requires extremely precise muting to avoid flubby low end on a solid-state amp. Pick hard and close to the bridge for maximum attack definition.
