01Wah Pedal (Dunlop Crybaby or similar)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for the solo's 'screaming' character. Park it at 70% heel-up for a cocked-wah treble peak, or sweep slowly during sustained notes.

Position 7

02Overdrive (Tube Screamer style)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Used as a boost to tighten low-end and push the amp's front end for Mesa-style articulation. Low drive, high level.

Why these settings

The Ving Ving FB 100 is an unknown/unverified amp model, so I've provided settings assuming a standard high-gain solid-state or hybrid architecture. The original Mesa Mark IV has a tight, focused midrange with controlled bass — the mid at 6 and bass at 4 compensates for amps that lack Mesa's inherent tightness. Without pedals, you'll miss the lead boost and wah expressiveness that define the solo's screaming character.

PRO TIPFor the solo's signature 'screaming' sustain without a Sustainiac pickup, use controlled feedback by standing close to your amp at moderate volume, angling your guitar toward the speaker, and applying heavy vibrato on sustained bends — the 15th-17th fret area on the high strings will sing if you find the feedback sweet spot.
