Why these settings

The Epiphone Studio 15R's solid-state overdrive channel cannot replicate the Bogner Uberschall's tube saturation and compression, so gain is maxed at 9 to get maximum available dirt. Mids are scooped to 3 (vs Bogner's natural scoop) because the Studio 15R has a flatter mid voicing. Treble and presence are pushed high to compensate for the lack of high-frequency harmonic content from power tube saturation.

PRO TIPPalm-mute with aggressive downstrokes close to the bridge pickup to get the percussive chug Gates uses throughout the verses—your picking attack becomes the definition since the amp can't provide the same tube compression.
