The Katana 50 MkII Brown model provides the required high-gain 5150-style harmonic saturation, but tracking low 8-string tunings (EAEADGBE) requires severely pulling bass down to 3 to prevent flub. The internal Screamer boost with Drive at 0 and high Level cuts sub-bass before the preamp while adding the necessary 1.5kHz pick attack. Note that the Katana 50 faceplate lacks a physical presence knob, so upper clarity is dialed via Treble at 7.
