Man In the Box (Live) amp settings — Positive grid Spark 2
The Alice In Chains guitar tone for “Man In the Box (Live)”, dialed in for a Positive grid Spark 2 with a Ltd Ex-200. Live version, Live (1993 Barrowland Glasgow / 2000 release)
G&L Rampage (Seymour Duncan JB) -> Dunlop Wah / Heil Talkbox -> Bogner Fish Preamp (Shark/Strato channels) & Marshall/Soldano power amps
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 7 |
| Bass | 6 |
| Mid | 8 |
| Treble | 7 |
| Reverb | 2 |
| Master | 7 |
01Onboard Wah (Dunlop Cry Baby model)
Engage and sweep with expression pedal or leave cocked midway for talkbox vocal resonance
02Onboard Overdrive (Screamer / Tube Drive block)
Tightens low end and pushes the SLO 100 model into Bogner Fish saturation
The Spark 2 uses the Soldano SLO 100 high-gain model boosted by an internal TS-style drive to replicate Jerry Cantrell's Bogner Fish preamp bite. Your ESP LTD EX-200 humbuckers provide ample output, so mids are pushed to 8 and treble to 7 to match the cutting upper-mid punch of Cantrell's Duncan JB pickup. Bass is kept at 6 to prevent the small speaker cab simulation from flubbing on heavy palm mutes.
