Why these settings

The Squier 10G has only Bass and Treble controls, so mid and presence are omitted. Engaging the amp's Overdrive button at moderate gain delivers the required Marshall-style crunch, while rolling the Strat's tone knob to 8 and keeping amp treble at 5 prevents the bridge single coil from sounding shrill through a small 6-inch speaker. Keep bass at 6 to fill out the low end without causing speaker flub.

PRO TIPAngus Young attacks open chords with aggressive, heavy downstrokes near the bridge using a stiff pick (around 1.0mm) to get maximum percussive snap and harmonic bite.
